The Manhattan Project
“The Manhattan Project” was created to provide the viewer an in-depth look into the vast amount of considerations faced by a professional bartender to execute this three-component recipe at the highest-level of craftsmanship.
The backdrop to the piece is made of collaged labels and is divided from left to right into the classic ingredient ratio of the cocktail. (2 parts whiskey, 1 part vermouth.) The vast array of brands signifies the options at the bartender’s disposal, as well as showcasing the intimate working knowledge of flavor profiles to be combined.
The third ingredient, bitters, was blended into an acrylic polymer and used as a stain to highlight familiar bottle shapes in the background.
The mixing glass, julep strainer and spoon in the foreground point to the proper mixing technique.
